PT Industri Jamu Dan Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk. (“Sido Muncul”) has donated Rp500 million in rice to communities affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic in South Sumatera, which will be distributed by the South Sumatera Police.

The symbolic handover ceremony was held at Sido Muncul’s office in Cipete, Jakarta between Sido Muncul Director Irwan Hidayat and Police Inspector General Eko Indra Heri, Chief of the South Sumatera Police on Friday, 6 August 2021.

“The police has the human resources to monitor the public activity restrictions (PPKM) and assist the vaccination programme. We initially planned to reach those in Central Java together with the Central Java Police. However, due to the circumstances with the Akidi Tios, we decided to first cooperate with the South Sumatera Police before working with the Central Java Police,” remarked Irwan Hidayat.

Irwan also expressed his appreciation to the South Sumatera Police for helping to distribute the assistance package to the people in South Sumatera. Sido Muncul is planning to match this donation round to the Central Java Police.

“We would like to thank the Chief of South Sumatera Police and his staff for helping to distribute our assistance. We sincerely hope that the assistance package can help those in South Sumatra whose livelihoods are affected the pandemic. In the coming days, we will be assisting the people in Central Java through the Central Java Police,” said Irwan.

Since the emergency PPKM was imposed on 23 July 2021, Sido Muncul and the Pengusaha Peduli NKRI initiative have provided a total of Rp2 billion to assist those affected by the pandemic. As the PPKM enforcement continues, Sido Muncul has increased its pledge to Rp4.5 billion from Rp2 billion. To distribute the remaining Rp2.5 billion pledge, Sido Muncul will be working with the Regional Police.
